Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design Celebrates 17th Anniversary and Farewell 2026

The Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design of the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) successfully celebrated its 17th Anniversary and Farewell 2026 on 13 June 2026 at the university’s permanent campus in Uttara, Dhaka.

The day-long program commenced with a colorful rally around the WUB campus, bringing together current students, alumni, faculty members, and well-wishers of the department. The rally reflected the strong sense of unity, pride, and belonging that has characterized the department’s journey over the past seventeen years.

The formal session was held at the university’s Founding Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium, where distinguished guests, faculty members, alumni, and students gathered to celebrate the department’s achievements and bid farewell to the graduating students.

The event was graced by Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor of the World University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included Professor Zaki Imam, Registrar, WUB; Professor Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam, Dean, Academic Affairs and Research; Professor Dr. Mohammad Quamruzzaman, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering; Professor M. Moqbul Hossain, Controller of Examinations, WUB; Dr. Ruhul Amin Khan, Director, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission; and renowned fashion designer Chandra Shekhar Shaha, Chief Consultant of Aarong, BRAC. The program was presided over by Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Head of the Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers emphasized the importance of innovation, sustainability, research excellence, technological advancement, and industry-oriented education in preparing graduates to meet the challenges of the rapidly evolving global textile and fashion sectors.

A special crest-giving ceremony was organized to honor the graduating students. Alumni representatives also shared their experiences and encouraged current students to pursue excellence in their academic and professional careers.

The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony marking the department’s 17th anniversary, followed by a vibrant cultural program featuring performances by students. The event provided an excellent platform for strengthening the bond among faculty members, students, alumni, and industry stakeholders.
