The Academic Exchange Program between
Maynooth University, Ireland, and World University of Bangladesh (WUB) was held
on 28 January 2026 with the
objective of strengthening international academic collaboration, research
partnerships, and global academic pathways. The visiting delegation from
Maynooth University included Dr.
Emmanuel Kypraios, Associate Dean for Internationalization, Faculty of
Social Sciences; Ms. Bridget Carey,
Director of International Recruitment & Conversion; and Dr. Farhad Ahmed, Assistant Professor
and Programme Director of the MSc International Business, School of Business,
Maynooth University. The program was honored by the presence of Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro
Vice-Chancellor of World University of Bangladesh, as the Special Guest. Other
distinguished guests from WUB included Prof.
Zaki Imam, Registrar; Professor
Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam, Dean of Academic Affairs; A. N. M. Ahsan Thouhid, Joint Registrar; Prof. Dr. Selim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies; Professor Dr. Mohammad Quamruzzaman,
Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Head of EEE; Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil, Dean of
the Faculty of Arts and Humanities; along with departmental heads and faculty
members of the university. As a mark of academic goodwill, the honorary crest
of World University of Bangladesh was presented by Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam to the representative of Maynooth
University.
The program was conducted in two
sessions, where the first session involved a meeting with WUB faculty members to explore
potential research areas, collaboration opportunities, faculty exchange, and to
initiate the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) process, followed by an
interactive Q&A session. The second session featured a seminar for undergraduate and postgraduate students
of WUB, during which the Maynooth University delegation provided an overview of
the university’s research profile, academic strengths, undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes, entry requirements, and career prospects in Ireland,
concluding with an engaging Q&A session.
The visit formed part of the
Bangladesh Academic Engagement Visit 2026, aimed at building long-term academic
partnerships between Maynooth University and leading universities in Bangladesh
by identifying areas of joint research interest, exploring opportunities for
faculty exchange, co-supervision, and joint publications, introducing Maynooth
University’s academic strengths, research ecosystem, and funding environment,
and engaging high-quality students interested in pursuing higher education at
Maynooth University.
