The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) of
the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) actively participated in
the 13th Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair (BTTF) 2025,
the nation’s largest and most prestigious tourism exhibition. The event,
organized by the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), was held
from 30 October to 1 November 2025 at the Bangladesh-China
Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC).
Representing WUB at Stall No. 51 (Milky Way), the Department
of Tourism and Hospitality Management showcased its innovative academic
programs, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, and notable alumni
achievements at both national and international levels. The stall drew
significant attention from visitors throughout the three-day exhibition,
underscoring the department’s growing reputation as a leading center for
tourism and hospitality education in Bangladesh.
On the inaugural day, the WUB THM stall was visited by the
President, Immediate Past President, and Directors of TOAB, who commended the
department’s dynamic representation. Among international guests, Mr. Hem
Lal Sharma, CEO of Teem Travel Bhutan, praised the department’s video
presentation on its laboratory facilities and expressed a strong interest in
initiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WUB to facilitate
cultural exchange and academic collaboration.
On the second day, the stall welcomed distinguished guests
including Ms. Sabina Alam, Director General of the Department of
Archaeology, and Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman, Deputy Director of
the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of
Bangladesh.
The closing day witnessed visits from several notable
international tourism leaders, including Mr. Sunil Sharma, Director of
the Nepal Tourism Board; Mr. Yagaya Murti Acharya, Chairperson of
the Tour Heritage and Cultural Committee, Nepal; and Mr. Deepak
Gurung, CEO of Destiny Bhutan. These visitors expressed keen interest in
exploring WUB’s THM laboratory facilities and future avenues for academic
collaboration.
The WUB THM exhibition was supervised by Professor Mohammed
Nasimul Azim, Head and Director of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality
Management. Administrative representation was provided by Mr. Md. Rakibul
Islam, Senior Assistant Registrar, who offered information regarding admissions
and institutional procedures. The department’s participation in the fair was
efficiently coordinated by Mr. Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud, Assistant Professor
and Academic Coordinator of the department.
In recognition of its exemplary participation, the Department
of Tourism and Hospitality Management, WUB, received a crest and
certificate of participation for outstanding contribution to the fair. The
award was presented by Ms. Nuzhat Yasmin, Chief Executive Officer
(Additional Secretary) of the Bangladesh Tourism Board, and was received
on behalf of the university by Mr. Pulak Sarker, Senior Lecturer.
The active participation of WUB in the 13th Bangladesh Travel
and Tourism Fair 2025 reaffirmed the university’s sustained
commitment to academic excellence in tourism and hospitality management.
