The
World University of Bangladesh proudly observed Bangladesh Engineers’ Day 2026
on 7 May 2026, commemorating the 78th founding anniversary of the Institution
of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), which was established on 7 May 1948 with the
inspiring motto, “Build a Better World.”
The
celebration was organized by the Faculty of Science and Engineering under the
theme “Celebrating
Innovation, Excellence & Engineering Spirit.” This year’s
observance was arranged symbolically through two key segments — a colorful
campus rally and a ceremonial cake-cutting program.
The
day began with an enthusiastic rally attended by students, faculty members, and
officials of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The rally reflected the
spirit of engineering innovation, unity, and professional excellence.
Among
those present on the occasion were Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. M. Nurul Islam,
Registrar Professor Zaki Imam, Director of IQAC Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur
Rahman, Additional Director of IQAC Professor Dr. Selim Ahmed, and Additional
Director of IQAC Dr. Swapan Kumar Sarkar.
The
program was conducted under the overall guidance of Professor Dr. Mohammad
Quamruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Head of the
Department of EEE. Heads of various engineering departments, along with faculty
members, also attended the celebration.
In
his remarks, the Pro-Vice Chancellor encouraged the future engineers of WUB to
uphold the legacy of IEB through ethical engineering practices, innovation, and
meaningful contributions toward building a Smart Bangladesh.
As
a leading institution committed to quality and utilitarian education, the World
University of Bangladesh continues to promote engineering education, research,
