The smell of Pitha and essence of autumn is smearing in the auditorium of World University of Bangladesh. The Cultural Club of WUB has arranged a two day Pitha Festival. 20 stalls with different types of pitha with different items are shown and sold in this festival. The festival was inaugurated by Dr.  Moshiur Rahman, Finance Adviser of the Prime Minister. In his inaugural speech Dr. Moshiur Rahman said, “Pitha Festival is a non-communal and festival of friendship for Bangalee. It depicts the cultural and traditional heritage firmly of this country’s village.” He thanked the WUB authority to uphold this kind of festival. The event was presided by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, where he stated in his speech that this festival is a part of awareness of our Liberation War and cultural herritage. The special guests were Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University. Mrs. Morsheda Choudhury, Treasurer of the University. Among the invited guests were Dr. Musfiq M. Choudhury, Academic Advisor of WUB, Mr. Mannan Hira, President of Bangladesh Patha Natok Parishad and drama personality and actress Shamima Nazneen spoke on the occasion. The festival will be rounded up on 5thDecember 2014 with Emeritus Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman gracing the occasion for the closing session.
