“WUB” Holds Freshers’ Reception, Summer 2010 PDF Print E-mail

World University of Bangladesh organized a freshers’ reception program on June 08, 2010 at LGED Bhaban Auditorium. Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim Hira, MP the Honorable Minister, Ministry of Land was the chief guest. The program was also graced by Professor Dr. Pran Gopal Datta, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and Chairperson of the Association of Bangladesh Universities and Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam- a member of the syndicate of the World University of Bangladesh and the Vice Chancellor of the Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury-a valiant freedom fighter and Vice Chancellor of the World University of Bangladesh. As many as 1835 students admitted during the summer semester were accorded reception.

Mr. M. Rezaul Karim Hira MP, as Chief guest advised the student to be law abiding, patriotic and dedicated to the utilitarian education so that they can work for their own emancipation as well as emancipation of the society and the country. He appreciated the endeavor of the university towards quality education and assured it all help and cooperation in its march towards a digital Bangladesh. Dr. Pran Gopal Datta and Dr. Nurul Islam welcomed the freshers and asked them to make best use of their time and to remain away from all evils in the society.

Dr. Musfiq M. Choudhury, secretary of the board of governors and Morsheda Choudhury the Treasurer of the university also spoke on the occasion besides the representatives of the freshers.

The program was concluded with a cultural soiree by the students of the university and outside artists.

The founding day celebration & Freshers’ Reception Program

 

A discussion meeting and a cultural function were organized today June 13th, 2010 by World University of Bangladesh on the occasion of founding anniversary and freshers reception summer – 2010. On that occasion veteran freedom fighter and educationist Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, the hon’ble Vice Chancellor, World University of Bangladesh, was present as chief guest. Hon’ble Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury and Secretary, Board of Governors, Dr. Musfiq Mannan Choudhury of World University of Bangladesh was also present on the occasion. Besides Engr. Md. Daulatuzzaman Ansary, Senior Vice President, ITET Bangladesh was present. The function was chaired by Prof. Md. Humaun Kabir, Advisor of Textile Engineering Department of World University of Bangladesh. In his speech, the chief guest Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury highlighted the contribution of the textile engineers in our national economy. He urged the freshers to work hard for achieving the goal of economic emancipation by earning proper education.

 

WORLD UNIVERSITY OF BANGLADESH SIGNS MOU FOR ACADEMIC COLLABORATION WITH SUCT, CHINA

 

On May 14, 2010, the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) signed a memorandum of understanding for academic collaboration with the Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (SUCT), China. Under this MOU, students of both the universities will be able to transfer credits amongst themselves in different disciplines of engineering. Moreover, the universities will facilitate staff exchange for enhancement of training and research. The MOU was signed by Vice-Chancellor of WUB, Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury and Professor Andong Li, Dean of the SUCT.

Three Martyred Freedom Fighters and one Language Hero Honored with "Gold Medals" 

On 27th March 2010, World University of Bangladesh organized a program to honor and give   away Gold Medals posthumously to four distinguished persons. They were A.N.M  Gaziul Huq for his contribution to the language movement and three Martyred  freedom fighters of Mujib Bahini named Saiful Islam Safu, Abu Jahid Abu and Mozammel Huq. The  gold medals were received by Rahul Gazi, Khizir Hayat khan, Mohammed Hossain Mohsin and Akhtaruzzaman  respectively.  It can be noted that martyred freedom fighter Saiful Islam Safu  is the brother of freedom fighter Rafiqul Islam  who is also a freedom fighter and initiator of international Mother Language Day.
